“Public Engagement” vs. Industry Collaboration

Pete reflects on connecting his students with industry partners through the Industry Teams Project, including why he doesn’t see industry collaborations as public engagement. To Pete, the term ‘public engagement’ refers very much to transmission rather than collaboration and mutual knowledge transfer. Other key differences include different beneficiaries, consumers, and expected outputs.
